Overcoming Team Tension
People work on teams because
collaboration allows productive activity to flourish. One person
doesn’t have all the skills, resources, or knowledge to get everything
done. So teams form to foster synergy. The theory is that the whole is
greater than the sum of the parts. Individuals can make progress,
whereas teams can make magic.

Build Your Virtual Team
Globalization has changed the nature of
how businesses function. What is has not changed are the requirements
for success. A dedicated team of skilled employees guided by expert
managers is crucial to any corporation. Communication is paramount,
more so today than ever before.

Intent vs Impact
Dealing with harassment issues is never
a simple matter and things can be further complicated by a common
mistake made by managers and HR professionals. They often dismiss a
complaint or ignore questionable behaviours due to the absence of
mal-intent on the part of the person engaging in those behaviours. Life
is easy when the behaviour is blatantly offensive. When one person
fondles another’s breast, an “I didn’t mean to offend or humiliate” is
not likely to go a long way.

Will I be Sued if I use a Defibrillator
Automated External Defibrillators
(AEDs) have made big news in the past few years. As discussed by the
Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada, about 40,000 cardiac arrests
occur in Canada annually, most of which are outside medical facilities.

Book Review – A Whole Mind by David Pink
It’s not often you can have so much
fun reading a book. From the Agriculture Age of the 18th century to the
Industrial Age of the 19th century to the 20th century’s Information
Age, Daniel Pink’s theory is that the 21st century will move us into
the Conceptual Age. In the Conceptual Age, creators and empathizers
will be the driving force. Creators and empathizers can use their
“whole” brains.
