Creating a Dynamic Speech – Part 3
MAKING A VISCERAL PICTURE – Staging your dynamite presentation
Part 3 in a series of articles about creating and delivering a dynamite presentation
O.K. Staging your presentation is technically part of the rehearsal process. But I’m giving it its own little section for a reason.
Think of staging as a kind of framing.
We know that if we take a beautiful picture and frame it with an ugly frame – we diminish the beauty of the picture. And we know if we take an ugly picture and put it in a beautiful frame, that the frame increases the perceived worth of the (ugly) picture.
Your presentation is framed by your staging choices.
You ‘frame’ your presentation by how you choose to move in the physical space you have been given.
Many speakers leave their staging to chance. They wander about or pace restlessly back and forth on the stage.
If your movement appears vague, so will you.

How do we make these decisions?
Go back to the idea of ‘vision / message’ as the motivating force behind each presentation.
