Diversity and Inclusion are values that are vital to most organizations. However, creating a culture of Diversity and Inclusion takes time, understanding and learning. Recent research suggests that the inability for organizations to capitalize on creating a diverse workforce will lead to poor business results and difficultly attracting and retaining high performers. For that reason, many organizations want to focus on Diversity but do not know where to begin. This half-day course focuses on the knowledge and skills required by all individuals to build a Diverse and Inclusive workplace.

Optimizing Diversity
Diversity is a topic often misunderstood in the business setting. In addition to being mandated in most Canadian organizations, it is a strategic leverage used to yield unparalleled business results both internally and externally. Understanding the parameters and benefits of Diversity requires a journey of self-discovery. Only then can an individual leverage his or her Diversity and use it to benefit the team and the organization as a whole.
By attending this one-day program, participants will:
- Understand the business case for Diversity
- Undergo a personal journey of their own Diversity and discover how it benefits them in the work environment
- Utilize the individual connection framework and toolkit to attract, engage, and retain diverse employees in a team environment
- Apply and demonstrate Diversity principles in their specific business
- Translate strategy into action
Micro Inequities
As organizations begin to leverage the benefits of Diversity, they must continue to focus on creating an inclusive work culture. The awareness of stereotypes, bias, and other barriers is extremely important, but there is often an overlooked suspect hiding in organizations: the Micro Inequity. Micro Inequities are micro messages which we unintentionally send every day that undermine people’s contributions and capabilities in the workplace.
By attending this half-day course, participants will be able to:
- Define Micro Inequities in the context of Diversity and Inclusion
- Understand the Impact of Micro Inequities in the workplace
- Apply the STOP principle for speaking out against Micro Inequities
- Learn to create Micro Advantages in the workplace
- Define their role in eliminating Micro Inequities in the workplace
